Tesla just switched to a Netflix-style subscription model for Full Self-Driving

Tesla has eliminated the $8,000 one-time purchase option for its Full Self-Driving software, switching exclusively to a $99 monthly subscription model starting February 14. The change comes after declining sales and a federal safety investigation into 2.88 million Tesla vehicles equipped with FSD following over 50 reports of traffic violations and crashes. This moves Tesla away from Elon Musk's previous promise that buyers were purchasing an "appreciating asset," adopting a more accessible pricing structure similar to competitors who often offer autonomous features for free.
