Someone fused a 3D printer and a vacuum robot to create a mobile 3D printer that can print on almost any flat surface — including your floor

MobiPrint, a new mobile 3D printing robot developed at the University of Washington, can autonomously navigate rooms and print designs on floors and surfaces. It combines a modified 3D printer mounted on a robot vacuum to create objects like pet bowls, signs, and tactile navigation markers. MobiPrint can print on various surfaces in dimensions up to 180 x 180 x 65 mm. Future plans include enabling larger prints and using AI to suggest optimal print locations, potentially making 3D printing more accessible and versatile for customizing spaces.
