Raspberry Pi now has an official guide for building your own cyberdeck

A rugged case, a tiny computer, and a dream of going off the grid. Raspberry Pi, the UK-based maker of beloved single-board computers, has released an official tutorial for building your own "cyberdeck," a custom computing device assembled from off-the-shelf components.

The build centers on a Raspberry Pi 5 tucked inside a Pelican-style case, paired with a 7-inch touchscreen, a compact Bluetooth keyboard, and a 128GB flash drive. Power comes from a portable battery bank, keeping the layout clean and safe.

Some soldering is required, but the project is designed to be approachable for DIY newcomers, not just seasoned tinkerers.

The tutorial doubles, not so subtly, as a showcase for Raspberry Pi's own product lineup. Still, the maker community has clearly embraced these homemade machines, and the magazine issue featuring the guide, available free online, already sold out in print.
