I guess we're doing Moon factories now

SpaceX has shifted focus to lunar development to accelerate space commercialization, driven by exploding demand for AI applications that could make space-based data processing highly profitable. While space-based solar power remains economically unviable, orbital datacenters with GPUs attached to satellite constellations could generate enormous profits since AI inference tokens are far more valuable than raw electrical power. Scaling beyond current satellite capacity will require manufacturing components in space using lunar-extracted materials, making Moon-based factories essential for large-scale space operations.
