First Neuralink Patient With ALS Can Now Use AI to Have Conversations

Bradford Smith, an ALS patient who can only move his eyes and needs a ventilator to breathe, became the first nonverbal person to receive a Neuralink brain implant. The device, implanted in his skull and connected to his brain's motor cortex, lets him type and communicate using only his thoughts. Neuralink is now combining AI language models with neural decoding to help him converse at a more natural pace.
