A privately developed Australian rocket is ready for a historic launch

Australian startup Gilmour Space is poised to launch Eris, the country's first domestically designed and built orbital rocket, from a private spaceport in Queensland. The test flight, delayed 24 hours due to a ground support issue, has a 10-hour launch window starting Friday local time.

Founded in 2012 by two brothers, Gilmour has raised $90 million and employs over 200 people. The company aims to enter the small satellite launch market and is developing its own satellite platform.
