This tiny gold crystal could bring quantum technology out of the deep freeze

LSU physicists created a tiny gold crystal that works as a quantum material at room temperature, eliminating the need for expensive cooling systems. Thinner than a human hair, the engineered chip sorts and transports distinct quantum states of light, potentially enabling smaller, cheaper quantum computers, communication networks, and more efficient solar cells.
