Cutting through the noise — researchers may have cracked a key issue with developing next-gen 6G networks

Researchers at the University of Glasgow have found a way to fight electromagnetic interference (EMI), one of 6G's biggest obstacles, using programmable "reconfigurable intelligent surfaces" that redirect and boost signals without weakening them. This breakthrough also improves network security by routing data only to trusted devices, with commercial 6G rollout expected in 2030.
