Cosmic rays could help reveal how tornadoes form

Muons, subatomic particles produced by cosmic rays, could potentially measure atmospheric pressure within tornadoes from a safe distance. Researchers propose using large detectors to capture muon excess caused by low-pressure areas in supercell thunderstorms, potentially improving understanding of tornado formation without risking equipment inside the destructive storms.
