A tiny “rainbow on a chip” could help supercharge 6G networks

Physicists at Loughborough University built a rice-grain-sized microchip that generates a stable "rainbow" of precisely spaced light frequencies, which can be converted into multiple millimeter-wave signals simultaneously. This breakthrough could support faster 6G networks, precision radar, and quantum timing technologies, with researchers hoping to eventually shrink the system to shoebox size for satellite use.
