A new ‘eye’ may radically change how robots see

A new low-power robotics system called LENS combines a brainlike sensor, chip, and AI model to recognize surroundings using minimal energy and storage. The system uses only 10% of the power required by conventional location systems, making it potentially valuable for space exploration, undersea missions, and microrobots. LENS's efficiency stems from its eyelike sensor that detects changes rather than constantly capturing full images, paired with neuromorphic computing and a specialized AI model.
