Startup gets $100M funding for low-power analog AI chips

EnCharge, an AI chip startup, claims its analog artificial intelligence accelerators could rival desktop GPUs while using significantly less power. The company's inference chip reportedly delivers 150 TOPS of AI compute at 8-bit precision on just one watt of power, using analog capacitors and in-memory compute architecture.

With $100 million in new funding, EnCharge plans to tape out its first production chips for mobile, PCs, and workstations later this year. The chips support various AI workloads, including convolutional neural networks and transformer architectures, potentially leading to more energy-efficient AI processing in various devices.
