Apple’s new language model can write long texts incredibly fast

Apple researchers developed FS-DFM, a new language model that generates text up to 128 times faster than traditional models by using a three-step approach that completes high-quality writing in just eight refinement rounds instead of over a thousand steps. The model achieved better accuracy scores than larger competing models while using significantly fewer parameters, demonstrating superior speed and efficiency in long-form text generation.
