AI won’t restore an era of rapid growth, says Nobel laureate Christopher Pissarides

Nobel Prize-winning economist Christopher Pissarides says AI is unlikely to bring back the rapid productivity growth seen in the late 20th century. Speaking at a Royal Economic Society conference, he argued up to 40% of jobs in the US and UK won't benefit from AI at all, and even AI-heavy sectors like finance would need unrealistic productivity gains to move the needle significantly.
