AI Misses Nearly One-Third of Breast Cancers, Study Finds

A study of 414 breast cancer patients found that AI diagnostic systems missed nearly one-third of cancers, particularly in women with dense breast tissue and smaller tumors. However, researchers discovered that a specialized MRI technique called diffusion-weighted imaging could detect over 80% of the cancers that AI overlooked, potentially serving as an effective backup screening method.
