Waymo recalls 1,200 robotaxis following low-speed collisions with gates and chains

Waymo, the Alphabet-owned self-driving car company, has issued a software recall for 1,200 robotaxis following minor collisions with gates and similar roadway objects. The recall, conducted in late 2024, was in response to NHTSA's investigation into seven such incidents between December 2022 and April 2024. Waymo's software update significantly reduced the likelihood of these events. The company, which now operates 1,500 commercial robotaxis in four cities, has previously issued recalls for other collision-related software issues.
