Vertical Aerospace's VX4 electric air taxi completed its first airport-to-airport flight, covering 17 miles from Cotswold Airport to RAF Fairford in England. This marked the first public airspace flight of a full-scale, piloted, winged tilt-rotor eVTOL aircraft between airports. The four-seat VX4, designed for civilian and military use, flew at 115mph at 1,800ft, demonstrating its ability to integrate with standard airport operations. This milestone highlights the potential for sustainable urban air mobility and defense applications, with the all-electric VX4 capable of 100-mile trips and a planned hybrid-electric version targeting 1,000-mile range.
