This 14-inch laptop has a screen that unrolls to 17 inches

A laptop that starts at 14 inches and quietly unrolls into a 17-inch screen sounds like science fiction, but Lenovo's ThinkBook Project Swan, unveiled at IFA 2026, makes it look almost ordinary.

The Swan's flexible OLED display expands horizontally, a more practical approach than some of Lenovo's wilder rollable experiments. At 3.5 pounds, it's slightly heavier than a typical 14-inch laptop, but remarkably compact for what it offers.

Up close, it reads less like a fragile prototype and more like something approaching a real product. There's a visible ripple where the screen rolls, though it largely disappears in actual use.

The bigger questions are durability and price. The previous rollable ThinkBook ran $3,500, and that was before supply chain pressures drove costs even higher. Still, the Swan's restrained design suggests Lenovo may finally be finding a path from concept to consumer.
