The Internet is (once again) awash with IoT botnets delivering record DDoSes

A surge in IoT-driven DDoS attacks has marked the start of 2025. Cloudflare reported a record-breaking 5.6 Tbps attack from 13,000 infected devices. Qualys uncovered the Murdoc Botnet, compromising over 1,500 IP addresses. Trend Micro identified another botnet targeting Japan, while Infoblox discovered a 13,000-device network primarily sending malicious spam. These attacks exploit vulnerabilities in routers, cameras, and other Internet-connected devices, highlighting the growing threat of IoT-based cyberattacks and the need for improved security measures.
