Teslas Will Now Deploy Their Airbags Before Crashes Happen Thanks To Cameras

Tesla has added a new safety feature that uses its onboard cameras to deploy airbags up to 70 milliseconds earlier in unavoidable crashes. The cameras detect an incoming collision, estimate its severity, and prepare the restraint systems before impact sensors even register a crash. Traditional sensors still make the final deployment decision. The update will reach existing Tesla vehicles wirelessly, though exact model eligibility hasn't been confirmed.
