Startup formed by former Intel engineers and backed by AMD legendary chip designer wants to become the Arm of RISC-V

AheadComputing, a startup founded by ex-Intel engineers, has raised $21.5 million to develop 64-bit RISC-V microprocessors. The company believes RISC-V will become the dominant computing architecture, challenging x86 and Arm. Led by CEO Debbie Marr, AheadComputing plans to focus on improving per-core performance and operate under an IP licensing model. The startup aims to expand rapidly, targeting cloud computing, AI, and mobile markets with its open architecture approach.
