Spotify is cracking down on AI voice clones with new impersonation rules for music uploads

Spotify has introduced strict rules requiring artists to get explicit permission before using AI-generated voice clones of real performers, effectively banning unauthorized deepfakes from the platform. The streaming giant is launching an AI-aware spam filtering system after removing over 75 million fake tracks in the past year, targeting bot-generated content designed to exploit algorithms and collect royalties. Spotify will also require transparent labeling of AI usage through detailed credits specifying whether vocals, instrumentation, or other elements were AI-created. These changes aim to combat deceptive AI content while allowing legitimate AI-assisted music creation with proper disclosure.
