SpaceX is partnering with chipmakers to enable Starlink satellite-to-cell service

SpaceX is collaborating with microchip makers to integrate satellite-connectivity hardware into smartphones, furthering its Starlink direct-to-device service. After acquiring $17 billion in wireless spectrum from EchoStar, the company aims to negotiate directly with global telecom carriers. President Gwynne Shotwell stated that satellites for this service will launch within two years, with phone testing expected by late 2026. SpaceX is also advancing its Starship program, preparing to transition from the V2 prototype to the more capable V3 vehicle for future lunar and Martian missions.
