Researchers unveil NAND-DRAM hybrid that could outperform traditional memory

Belgian researchers at Imec have developed a new hybrid memory chip that combines DRAM's speed with NAND flash's storage density, potentially cutting AI inference costs. Still in early proof-of-concept, the 3D chip uses IGZO material and reaches speeds exceeding 4GHz, but needs more research before reaching real-world data centers.
