NASA awards SpaceX a contract for one of the few things it hasn’t done yet

NASA's Dragonfly mission to Saturn's moon Titan will launch in July 2028 using SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket. The mission will use a nuclear power generator with 10.6 pounds of plutonium-238 due to Titan's dim environment. Dragonfly, a rotorcraft designed to explore Titan's organic-rich atmosphere, will take six years to reach its destination. The mission's budget has grown to $3.35 billion, more than double its initial estimate, due to pandemic-related issues and redesigns.
