Microsoft brings the MS-DOS text editor back from the dead, sort of

Microsoft is reviving the classic MS-DOS Edit utility with a new open-source text editor for Windows 11. The compact, modeless editor features a text-based interface and modern capabilities like mouse support, multiple file editing, and find-and-replace. With a small footprint of under 250kB, it's designed to be included in Windows 11 ISO images. Microsoft plans to release the editor to Windows Insider beta testers soon, aiming for a stable launch alongside a future Windows 11 build.
