Microsoft bets big on nuclear future for data centers

Microsoft has joined the World Nuclear Association, becoming the first major tech company to do so as it seeks carbon-free energy solutions for growing data center demands. The partnership aims to accelerate nuclear technology development, particularly small modular reactors and fusion energy, as Microsoft balances climate goals with increasing electricity needs. Nuclear power offers continuous output that renewables can't always provide, evidenced by Microsoft's 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to restart the former Three Mile Island Unit 1 facility.
