Mice experience artificial limb embodiment, could help humans embrace prosthetic limbs

Researchers developed a mouse version of the "Rubber Hand Illusion" experiment, demonstrating that mice can experience artificial limb embodiment similar to humans. The study involved synchronous brushing of real and artificial limbs, followed by a threat to the fake limb. Mice showed stronger responses when the artificial limb appeared realistic and was brushed in sync with their real limb. This breakthrough could help improve prosthetic limb integration for humans and deepen our understanding of body ownership in the brain.
