Meta could make social media posting immortal — and we should all cancel our Facebook accounts right now

Meta is seeking to patent technology that would use artificial intelligence to recreate deceased people's digital personas on social media, drawing from their posts, images, and online activity to essentially make them immortal in digital form. While Meta hasn't committed to implementing this capability, the growing sophistication of AI and humanity's desire to reconnect with lost loved ones suggests such technology will inevitably emerge, making efforts to avoid it by deleting social media accounts largely futile.
