ISRO begins development of next-gen launch vehicle 'Soorya'

ISRO is designing Soorya, a next-generation launch vehicle with two variants for low Earth orbit and geosynchronous transfer orbit missions. The three-stage rocket will have payload capacities up to 23.4 tons, support future human missions and lunar exploration, and feature a recoverable first stage, with project completion expected in seven years.
