Amazon’s Zoox starts testing its robotaxis in Los Angeles

Zoox, Amazon's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, is expanding robotaxi testing to Los Angeles. Initial mapping will use manually-driven Toyota Highlanders with self-driving tech, followed by autonomous testing this summer. The company plans to introduce steering wheel-free robotaxis later and offer public rides in Las Vegas and San Francisco this year. This expansion follows a recent software recall affecting 258 vehicles. Currently, only Waymo offers paid autonomous rides in select cities.
