Researchers at Science Tokyo and Tohoku University mathematically proved that two puzzling behaviors in spin glass materials—reentrance and temperature chaos—are fundamentally connected. The breakthrough shows that when cooling makes these magnetic materials less ordered (reentrance), their internal structure becomes extremely sensitive to tiny temperature changes (temperature chaos).
