World's first color images of black holes are on their way

Event Horizon Telescope astronomers developed a new method for simultaneous multi-frequency radio sky observation, enabling color imaging of supermassive black holes. The technique, called frequency phase transfer (FPT), corrects atmospheric distortions by observing at 3mm and 1mm wavelengths simultaneously. This promising method could allow future projects to capture live, color images of black holes.
