World’s largest tokamak ITER installs 1,100-ton core module to confine fusion plasma

ITER's massive fusion reactor reached a key milestone when the sixth of nine core modules was lowered into the reactor pit, putting two-thirds of the torus-shaped plasma chamber in place. The 1,100-ton installation finished six months ahead of schedule, pushing the projected completion date from December 2027 to mid-2027.
