US firm opens 289,000-square-foot campus to expand metal 3D printing production

Velo3D has opened Forge 1, a nearly 289,000-square-foot metal 3D printing campus in Livermore, California, designed to scale production of large-format metal parts for aerospace, defense, and energy industries. The facility can support over 40 large-format systems initially, with plans to expand beyond 100, potentially creating one of North America's largest metal additive manufacturing environments. The campus aims to reduce U.S. dependence on overseas supply chains for complex, mission-critical components.
