Private messages to military data: Satellites are leaking secrets, study shocks

Researchers from UC San Diego and University of Maryland discovered that roughly half of all satellite communications worldwide are transmitted without encryption, including military data, personal calls, and infrastructure communications. Using just $800 in equipment, they intercepted sensitive information from T-Mobile networks, US military vessels, Mexican law enforcement, and critical infrastructure systems, revealing massive security vulnerabilities.
