New data on atmosphere from Earth to the edge of space

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have created a comprehensive dataset of the entire atmosphere spanning nearly 20 years. The JAWARA dataset covers multiple atmospheric layers from ground level to the edge of space, including the previously understudied "ignorosphere" region. This new tool enables scientists to better understand atmospheric circulation, improve climate modeling, and enhance weather forecasting. Created using the JAGUAR-DAS data assimilation system, the dataset is now openly available and may foster interdisciplinary research between atmospheric and space scientists.
