MIT scientists debut a generative AI model that could create molecules addressing hard-to-treat diseases

MIT researchers released BoltzGen, the first AI model capable of generating novel protein binders ready for drug discovery pipelines, specifically targeting "undruggable" diseases that current treatments cannot address. Unlike existing models limited to structure prediction or basic protein design, BoltzGen unifies multiple capabilities and was successfully tested across eight laboratories on 26 challenging disease targets, potentially revolutionizing how new medicines are developed.
