Kyoto Fusioneering starts work on key fusion power plant device

Kyoto Fusioneering, a Japan-based fusion energy supplier with $121 million in committed capital, has received U.S. Department of Energy and Tennessee state grants to build a prototype fuel breeding device called Unity-3 at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The device will test breeding blanket technology, which generates fusion fuel while harvesting energy. Several fusion startups, including Xcimer Energy and Thea Energy, plan to use Unity-3's experimental data to design their reactors.
