How the Eon Team Produced a Virtual Embodied Fly

Eon Systems created a virtual fruit fly by combining a digital brain model containing 140,000 neurons with 50 million connections from real fly brain mapping data with a physically accurate 3D fly body that moves using realistic joint mechanics. The virtual fly can navigate toward food using taste cues, stop to groom dust off itself, and feed, demonstrating how brain structure alone can produce complex behaviors through sensory input processing and motor control outputs.
