Germany’s large-scale battery storage could witness 500% growth with 7 GWh of facilities

Germany's large-scale battery storage capacity is expected to grow 500% within two years, increasing from 1.8 GWh to 7 GWh by 2026. This expansion is driven by electricity market dynamics and price differences between low and high electricity prices. Over 80% of small rooftop solar systems are already paired with battery storage, with 1.51 million home storage systems totaling 13 GWh installed. The growth in large-scale storage will help better integrate rapidly expanding solar power into the electricity system, making supply more consistent and reliable.
