From sci-fi to reality: Researchers realise quantum teleportation using tech

German scientists achieved quantum teleportation between two independent light-emitting devices using quantum entanglement, converting light to wavelengths compatible with standard internet fiber optic cables. The researchers used semiconductor quantum dots operating at extremely cold temperatures and frequency converters to successfully teleport quantum information with a 72.1% success rate, exceeding the threshold proving genuine quantum transportation occurred. This breakthrough demonstrates that quantum teleportation could potentially work with existing internet infrastructure, though challenges like extreme cooling requirements and complex conversion systems remain.
