EON wants to move the data superhighway from ocean fiber to space lasers

Startup EON launched with $10.75 million in seed funding to replace undersea internet cables with space-based lasers, targeting 2.4 terabits per second throughput for hyperscalers and AI labs. A demo satellite launching around late 2027 will compete with Blue Origin's larger TeraWave project, targeting expensive or underserved data routes worldwide.
