China's reusable rockets pave the way for space-based solar power

China is developing a 1-kilometer-wide space-based solar power station to collect and convert solar energy in orbit. The station would beam energy back to Earth as microwaves, potentially generating more power annually than all remaining extractable oil. Led by rocket expert Long Lehao, the project aims to use China's reusable Long March 9 rocket to transport solar panels into geostationary orbit. This technology could harness 10 times more energy than surface-based solar panels, rivaling China's Three Gorges Dam output.
