Altermagnetism: First conclusive evidence of elusive third class of magnetism found

Scientists have discovered conclusive evidence of altermagnetism, a third type of magnetism combining properties of ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism. Using photoemission electron microscopy on manganese telluride, researchers observed unique magnetic domains and orientations that confirm the existence of altermagnetic states, which could potentially boost microelectronic component speeds by 1000 times.
