Advanced nuclear reactor tech with self-healing alloys expands in US with new base

Swedish nuclear developer Blykalla has opened an engineering center in Austin, Texas, focused on advancing lead-cooled reactor technology for American energy markets. Its SEALER reactor uses aluminum-alloyed steel that forms a self-healing ceramic coating when exposed to oxygen, preventing molten lead from corroding the structure. This allows the reactor to operate at atmospheric pressure, eliminating bulky containment systems and enabling compact installations near industrial sites and data centers.
