MongoDB 8.0, the latest version of the database platform, offers significant performance improvements over its predecessor. Key enhancements include 36% better read throughput, 56% faster bulk writes, and 200% faster handling of time series data. The update features more efficient horizontal scaling, allowing data to be distributed across shards 50x faster at up to 50% lower cost. Additionally, it introduces better control over query performance, improved support for search and AI applications, and enhanced encryption capabilities. MongoDB reports a 75% query latency reduction in its internal build system since switching to version 8.0.
