Un-0: Generating Images with Coupled Oscillators

Unconventional AI has built Un-0, an image generator powered by thousands of coupled oscillators — mathematical models inspired by synchronized rhythms in the brain — instead of traditional neural network layers. Rather than using conventional GPU-based networks, Un-0 lets oscillators interact and self-organize, then reads their final states to produce images through a lightweight decoder. On a standard benchmark, it achieved an FID score of 6.74, matching early leading image generators, with a long-term goal of running AI at roughly 1,000x lower energy consumption.
