The job AI still can’t do

Middle management job postings have dropped 42% since April 2022 as companies flatten organizational structures to cut costs and speed up decisions. However, middle managers remain essential as translators between senior leadership and front-line teams, coordinating across departments and reducing organizational friction through communication. While AI can handle some administrative tasks, it cannot replace the human need for coordination and relationship management that middle managers provide, making their roles fewer but more impactful.
