Tech entrepreneur Anil Dash argues that AI and large language models should be viewed as normal technology rather than magical breakthroughs, since machine learning has existed for decades and represents another layer of abstraction and automation. While LLMs offer significant improvements in natural language interfaces and accessibility, the hype surrounding them leads to inappropriate applications where deterministic code would be better suited, with bosses forcing non-deterministic AI tools onto reliable existing systems simply to claim they use AI.
